Who We Are
The Sons of The American Legion (SAL) is a proud arm of the American Legion Family, bringing together boys and men of all ages who share a direct family connection to military veterans. Operating locally as Squadron 159, the Sons exist to preserve the heritage, service, and sacrifice of their veteran family members. Working side-by-side with Legionnaires and the Auxiliary, the Sons support local veterans, promote Americanism, and mentor youth across the Brazos Valley.

Who Can Join?
Membership in the Sons of The American Legion is open to male descendants of all ages who meet the following qualification:

• Family Connection: You must be a male descendant—including sons, grandsons, great-grandsons, stepsons, or adopted sons—of a veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces, or a descendant of a current member in good standing of The American Legion.
• No Age Limit: From newborns to grandfathers, any eligible male descendant can become an active member of Squadron 159.

To become a member of the American Legion Riders, you must fulfill two core requirements:

Honor Your Legacy: “You inherited their name; now carry their mission.” Joining the SAL ensures the sacrifices made by your parents, grandparents, or relatives are never forgotten.

Veteran & Youth Support: Volunteer for initiatives that directly impact local veterans, assist at VA facilities, and raise funds for youth programs, scholarships, and the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
